Woodruff Palmer - Red Barn

I was driving through the farmlands in the late afternoon when this barn caught my eye. I thought the color of the spring grass against the rich shadows made for a great composition. - WP

Woodruff Palmer was born in 1953 and grew up in a small Michigan town. From a young age his passion was hiking in the woods, fields and streams of the surrounding area. His love of the land carried him to Michigan State University where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Landscape Architecture. Soon he followed his father’s path in architecture and spent 30 years as a designer. In 1980, he married wildlife artist, Bonnie Marris, and they moved to a rural farm where Woody restored the old buildings and learned much of the farming way of life. He feels a great tie and love for old farms. Each one is unique and yet familiar, like a window into the past. His passion is to paint the rural landscape while it still exists.
