A patchwork blanket draped over a rocking chair, and teddy bears long since separated from a child who's now grown - these old things have a life of their own. They can't talk to you or walk around the room, but if you listen closely you can almost hear the silent voice of the person who once owned them. For me, these treasures are not portraits of what they appear to be, but instead, I've tried to paint a portrait of that unseen person who once cherished and loved them. - JD
