In my other cat paintings, I felt that I never had the opportunity to enjoy painting the eyes. The only way to do this was to make a big close-up of a cat face. Then I could work with the reflections in the cat’s eyes, which show its habitat, and with some fantasizing, one could imagine something that fascinates the animal in that landscape. The Canadian lynx was the obvious choice. He represents the North, and the North is vast, mysterious and wild. - CB
