Alan Bean - One Lucky Guy

This is me running along on the moon. Pete Conrad took the reference photo on our first moonwalk. What an adventure! Not a day goes by, some 38 years later, that I don't say, I´m one lucky guy!

Apollo XII astronaut, commander of Skylab II and artist, Alan Bean, is holder of 11 world records in space and astronautics and numerous national and international honors. His awards include two NASA Distinguished Service Medals, the Yuri Gagarin Gold Medal and the Robert J. Collier Trophy. As part of the Apollo XII crew, he was the fourth of 12 men to walk on the Moon. As the commander of Skylab Mission II, he set a world record: 24,400,000 miles traveled during the 59-day flight. He launched himself successfully into a new career as an artist, using his artist´s eye and talents to document impressions of the Moon and space to be preserved later on canvas. Two books by Bean will be published in 2009.
