The setting of this painting is the San Jose Mission in San Antonio, Texas. This mission was built in the mid-1700's by Spanish Franciscans who taught the native Americans. I just loved the faded colors of the crumbling limestone and the hand carved figures, including angels. This image combines the romance of a beautiful woman dressed in Victorian finery with elegant Spanish-influenced architecture. - H. P.
