A gate is an invitation to explore! I spotted this gate while driving through a tiny Cotswold village, having just painted Mckenna's Cottage, I knew at once I must record the gate in paint, yet since daylight was escaping, I quickly snapped a few reference photos and vowed to recreate the gate in my studio. - Thomas Kinkade |

Some years ago, in my travels through England, I found a wonderful stone gate - mysterious and inviting - that inspired my celebrated painting, The Autumn Gate, Nanette and I returned to England and made a pilgrimage to that ancient gate in order to discover what lay beyond - the stately, ivy-draped stone manor house I celebrated in Beyond Autumn Gate. - T. My colorful "Blossom Bridge" began as a location painting in Ireland! I came upon a scene where ancient footpaths wind their way over an old stone bridge to a distant village. It was all so green that I began to add brightly colored flowers…and suddenly a riot of colors took over An idea bloomed along with the canvas; I would create a place where blossoms reign. You can see the scenic little village of Blossom Lane in the distance; what you can't see are the lavish floral displays that await visitors to this blooming paradise! - T. K. |
