William S. Phillips - And Now the Trap
It is 1945 in the Pacific. Three F6F Hellcats are shown returning to the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-12) after a routine patrol. The majority of the patrol flight was over, as was the majority of the war, but for these Hellcat pilots and the Allied military, there were still some very important things to do. For these planes, it was a trap' - landing on the relatively small, moving deck and catching the arresting cable with the plane's tail hook. For the military as a whole, it was winning the war. - WP
