Having been raised in a rural area not far from one of Canada's national parks and having lived for more than 16 years in the boreal forest region of northern Manitoba, it's not surprising that Audrey Casey has developed a deep love for the wilderness and its inhabitants. Given that she began painting in oils at the age of six, it's also not surprising that her love of the wilderness has found its expression on canvas.
Casey began painting full time in 1980, after a 14-year career as a teacher. Since then, her career has rapidly advanced. One of her paintings toured for three years with the Canadian Nature Federation's traveling art exhibit, and her works have found homes as far afield as Alaska and West Germany. Casey was selected as one of a group of 19 wildlife artists from across Canada to participate in a display at the Royal Ontario Museum, celebrating1987 as Wildlife Year in Canada. this display also led to her artwork being included in The Art of Survival, a book commemorating the show. Casey's work is among several prestigious corporate and government collections. |
