Marcia Banks' paintings exhibit an undeniable mastery of the figure and the still life, as well as celebrating so eloquently scenes from the pageant of life. Her elegant, graceful women come to life before the viewer's eves.
They are fabricated from explosive, brightly colored palettes combined with original fashion design, weaving a vied tapestry of motion and harmony: And at the heart of it all lies the essence of relationships between women with prevailing themes of glamorous intrigue - meetings in exotic locals, expressions of ennui, disdain and hints of conspiracy: Each character in a Banks painting is a real person, and the use of real people as models adds to the authenticity. Her world is one of color, design, complexity, and flair. And "It's a Woman's World."
In 1993 the artist and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas, to be near their two sons and two grandchildren. She continues traveling the United States, Paris and London, and the sketches from her adventures will be realized in future paintings.
Ms. Banks has been honored at receptions hosted by Reme Krug, the National Kidney Foundation and The Adolphus and Melrose Hotels in Dallas, to name but a few. Her works have been displayed across the country, museums and galleries including The Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey; Southwinds Gallery in California; Banks Fine Art, Decor, and Soot in Dallas; and Martin Lawrence Galleries in New York, Beverly Hills and Lahaina. Her paintings hang in numerous corporate and private collections throughout the country. |
